Downtown Radio DJ Ronan Kelly takes a new local folk song as his record of the week. His fellow presenters thought he was mad. In their opinion a folk song would never get into the charts especially one performed by a group called Bakerloo Junction.
The attached newspaper cutting proves them wrong.Well done Ronan for taking a brave decision. Bakerloo are on a roller coaster!
It gave me a marvellous feeling just to hear the song being played on the radio. It all seems such a long time ago. Like a dream.

Everyone thought that the song "My Lagan Softly Flowing" would be a lost cause in the charts.
It was a shock when the record got the number 2 spot.
It was an even bigger shock when the song hit number 1.
The band was then a cabaret act and having a hit song made each show that little bit more special. We had the pleasure of performing on all the major cabaret stages in the country and working with fabulous musicians. Nights and shows I shall never forget.
